Hi, my name is Haley and I’m raising funds to help my service dog, Dior, fight cancer. Dior is a 5-year-old Great Dane and the most loyal companion I could ask for. He’s not just a pet—he’s my service dog, my best friend, and the heart of my everyday life. This past week, Dior was diagnosed with osteosarcoma (bone cancer), and we are racing against time to give him the best chance at survival.
We’ve already spent thousands of dollars on cardiology testing at Texas A&M to clear Dior for surgery due to a pre-existing condition (atrial fibrillation). With the help of amazing vets, Dior was cleared, but we now face the even bigger challenge of affording cancer treatment.
We are currently pursuing a cutting-edge treatment called ELIAS Cancer Immunotherapy (ECI®), which combines a personalized cancer vaccine and T cell therapy. While promising, this treatment is expensive and involves travel to Dallas for part of the protocol, as well as coordination with our local oncology team at BluePearl (where our initial exam alone starts at $250). As of today, we also owe $242 to Texas A&M for Dior’s ongoing cardiology work.
Our first appointment with BluePearl Spring (TX) is scheduled for **Monday, May 12th at 8:30 AM**. We have not yet heard back from Texas A&M regarding whether they will accept Dior for further oncology treatment, so in the meantime, we’re trying to be as proactive as possible with his care.
All funds raised will go directly toward Dior’s medical care, including:
– Surgery and diagnostics
– ELIAS Immunotherapy protocol
– Apheresis procedure in Dallas
– Travel, medication, and follow-up appointments
– Outstanding medical bills (current balance: $242 at TAMU)
We don’t know yet how much the full treatment will cost, but based on early estimates and similar cases, it could range anywhere from $10,000 to $15,000 or more. We are preparing for that reality and hoping to ease the financial burden so we can focus on giving Dior the care he needs.
If you would prefer, donations can also be made directly to Dior’s medical providers:
– Texas A&M Veterinary Hospital (College Station, TX)
– BluePearl Pet Hospital (Spring, TX)
Please contact me directly for instructions if you’d like to donate that way.
Dior has been with me through everything… nursing school, Brandon’s deployment to afghanistan, starting my dog jammie business, Dymond’s Co, moving cross-country, and so much more—and now it’s my turn to be there for him. If you can donate, share, or send encouragement, it would mean the world to both of us. Thank you for taking the time to read our story.
With gratitude,
Haley Don
