Dior has been part of our family since he was 12 weeks old, and anyone who has met him knows—he’s truly one of a kind. From the way he comforts without words to his goofy personality that keeps us laughing, Dior is more than just a pet… he’s my service dog, pandemic puppy, deployment buddy, and most importantly – family.

Dior’s Story
In August 2024, we noticed Dior limping on his right hind leg. What started as a simple vet visit turned into months of heart testing at Texas A&M. After numerous echocardiograms, blood tests, and chest X-rays, he was diagnosed with Atrial Fibrillation, but the mystery behind his limp remained. Thankfully, radiographs in February of 2025 revealed no injury to his right leg and the cause of his Atrial Fibrillation is still unknown.
Earlier this year, Dior started limping again—this time on his left leg. After trying to manage his pain at home, we took him back to the vet for more X-rays. That’s when we received the devastating diagnosis: Osteosarcoma, one of the most aggressive bone cancers in dogs.
We are crushed.
But we aren’t giving up.
Next Steps
We are grateful to have several options for Dior’s treatment, and as a family we have deeply considered each. There are pros and cons to all of them of course, but as of right now our first option includes the following:
• Amputation of the cancerous limb (hind left leg)
• 4 Rounds of Carboplatin Chemotherapy
• Immunotherapy Vaccination made out of Dior’s unique cancer cells by Ardent Animal Health
I was referred to a Main Street Vet Clinic a little over an hour east of where we live by Ardent Animal Health where they have quoted us $8,500 for surgery, chemotherapy, and the immunotherapy. This is significantly lower than our initial quote from Blue Pearl Animal Hospital of $21,000.
We’ve already paid over $3,500 for Dior’s diagnostic treatment, maxing out our Care Credit to get him this far. While the road ahead feels overwhelming, we are committed to fighting for him.
